(Day 793 / -154 lbs.) I’m Not Gumby, Dammit!
This morning I warmed up for the gym with a little yoga. Now, this was a first for me and I’m not sure what to make of it. Oh wait, yes I do. Yoga is a workout all by itself.
Sure, I wasn’t pushing any weights around but pushing my own weight around was quite enough. I have to say too that it is also very relaxing in stretch-it-out kind of way. I started off in a seated, perfect posture position and discovered that my normal posture is, well, terrible. I really need to watch it or I’m going to develop a hump or something. Poor posture aside, consciously sitting, breathing, and moving with deliberate focus is also quite relaxing. More on that later- I believe I’ll continue with what I started this morning at least in the short term. Will I see any direct benefit? I’ll just have to see.
Moving on…
My family had dinner over at a friends’ house last night. It was pizza, which is OK. I don’t like to eat the stuff too often and was able to limit myself to a modest slice. I loaded up on salad instead and felt quite full without the self-loathing of days gone by. These friends are really into things like quinoa, chia, and agave nectar. Seemed like we had quite a bit of it last night even though the menu was pizza and salad.
They like to use the chia as a filler and substitute component; our salad dressing was about half chia gel and the cupcakes we had for dessert were made with chia in place of eggs. We also had chia lemonade- which looks kind of like pond water but tastes pretty good. All in all it was pretty good stuff- and the company was pretty decent as well.
Here’s the nutritional breakdown for an ounce of dried chia seeds:

Rock on.
